Cruel Beauty - Rosamund Hodge

I don't know how to rate this book. On one hand, it was kind of unique, although it was a retelling of the Beauty and the Beast, built a nice atmosphere and kept you reading. I like how "Beauty" is portrayed. She is hateful and vicious but also courageous and kind. Her behaviour is contradictory throughout the book but at the same time she grows up and learns how to love and forgive.

On the other hand, it was too complicated. The greek mythology was badly woven in the story (and also incorrect) along with other myths. tales and religion. It's too much. You have demons, old gods, new gods, tricksters, greek names, roman names, latin, magic, fairytales.. should I continue? I am actually not joking. I can continue. You get so many stories and details but most of them are not actually needed and neither do they play a part in the story.

Even now that I've somehow managed to untangle my thoughts, I still don't know how to rate it. So I am not committing to anything and I'm giving it 3*.
