Cruel Beauty - Rosamund Hodge

I don't know how to rate this book. On one hand, it was kind of unique, although it was a retelling of the Beauty and the Beast, built a nice atmosphere and kept you reading. I like how "Beauty" is portrayed. She is hateful and vicious but also courageous and kind. Her behaviour is contradictory throughout the book but at the same time she grows up and learns how to love and forgive.

On the other hand, it was too complicated. The greek mythology was badly woven in the story (and also incorrect) along with other myths. tales and religion. It's too much. You have demons, old gods, new gods, tricksters, greek names, roman names, latin, magic, fairytales.. should I continue? I am actually not joking. I can continue. You get so many stories and details but most of them are not actually needed and neither do they play a part in the story.

Even now that I've somehow managed to untangle my thoughts, I still don't know how to rate it. So I am not committing to anything and I'm giving it 3*.

Into the Still Blue - Veronica Rossi

I’m trying to remember the last dystopia series finale that I actually liked without being just acceptable. deep breaths, trying not to talk about Allegiant, trying, succeeding

Into the Still Blue is not only that but highly enjoyable and fast paced. The characters development is what you’d expect. Their relationship development is what you’d expect. The plot development is what you’d expect. Ok, I admit it. Everything in this book is exactly what you’d expect and a lot of things come as very convenient. I could anticipate every little turn of events and you know what, I didn’t care. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all up for little twists that I can’t see coming. But at this point and with many disappointments from similar books, anticipated is certainly good.

These Broken Stars - Amie Kaufman, Meagan Spooner

Imagine a beautifully written love story, set in a deserted island planet (imagine Lost). It's essentially a character based survival story. I could have given it 5* for the fact that I really hated the heroine in the beginning. Thank God her bitchiness lasts only for a few chapters.

If you want to read something with spaceships and space travel this is not the book. Maybe you should try Grimspace.

The Emperor's Blades - Brian Staveley

Absolutely amazing!

Can I just say OMG, I’m mindblowned or something like that for a review? No? Well how can I even begin to describe the book? My problem is not that english is not my first language, my problem is that the book was so absolutely brilliant that I can’t even begin to describe it.

Ok I’ll try. Let’s just say that you have a picture and you want to develop it in Photoshop. You take the main one and you put layer, after layer until you reach perfection. Well, the book felt like that. It’s like the author wrote the book and then rewrote every single paragraph in order to reach excellence. It’s like he wrote the book based on the main plot. He rewrote it to reach it’s complexity, he rewrote it to perfectly portrait its characters and he rewrote it just to make every single word count. I didn’t find a single word to be too much. I’ve read on the author’s site that he started the book 7 years ago. I can't say I’m surprised.

One of the best fantasy books EVER!!! The only drawback is that I have to wait until January 2014 for “The providence of fire”.

Clean Sweep - Ilona Andrews

Don't even think for a minute that because it is free it lacks in world-building, plot, or romance. It is every bit what you'd expect from the authors. Funny and gripping.

World After - Susan Ee

I loved every awful, atrocious, barbaric, heinous, rotten, shocking, diabolical, fiendish, gross, nefarious, monstrous, villainous, wicked, cruel, inhuman, brutal... scene in this book..

My disturbed psyche, my thesaurus and I would like to thank Susan Ee for this amazing book.

Steel's Edge - Ilona Andrews

The Edge series are well-writen, but I can always feel that something is missing. Something that would have made me love them as much as I love the Kate Daniels series. I really can't pinpoint it. It's is not the writing, because it is as good as can be expected from the writers, it is not the action, it's not the romance.. the books are amazing in every part.. but the sparks are missing.

Angelfall - Susan Ee

before..
I'm so not gonna start this book before the second one comes along! I think I have do have self control.. I can't can wait!

after..

ready..

Angelfall - Susan Ee

Ok it's time! I've calculated exactly how much I'll need to finish this (my engineering degree comes in handy..sometimes..) so I'll go straight to the next one.. I included the unputdownableness to a 70% .. I hope it's not more because then I'll have to read at a slower pace and it will be bad..

Fucking bitch

Arsen - Mia Asher

It's the first time that I absolutely hate a character in a book. My problem was not with her cheating her husband, but with all the bullshit that she kept telling herself. I even hated her before she cheated. I honestly kept reading the book hoping she would die..unfortunately she didn't... :(

Allegiant - Veronica Roth

2.5*
I really wanted to like the end of the trilogy, because I absolutely loved the previous ones, but I found myself a little bored. The philosophical dilemmas play the first role, with little action only as an excuse for more overanalysing. I think the story building has many holes in it that weren't so prominent in the previous books. Or maybe the headache that the book managed to create made me miss some stuff. Well it doesn't really matter. The only thing left is a huge disappointment because it was one of the most highly anticipated books for me this year.

Unteachable - Leah Raeder

I absolutely loved it!

“There's something so terrible about wanting something you've already had. You know exactly what you're missing. Your body knows precisely how to shape itself around the ache, the hollowness that wants to be filled”

“...You should love something while you have it, love it fully and without reservation, even if you know you'll lose it someday. We lose everything. If you're trying to avoid loss, there's no point in taking another breath, or letting your heart beat one more time. It all ends." His fingers curl around mine. "That's all life is. Breathing in, breathing out. The space between two breaths.”

Ready Player One: A Novel - Ernest Cline

It's around 2040, when almost all of the natural resources are already exploited and the "human" world is rapidly declining. I say "human" because at the same time the online alternative reality called OASIS is the place everyone wants to be in. You can go to school, shop, have fun. have sex.. When the billionaire inventor of the "game" dies, he leaves a quest in order for one person to inherit everything. The clues can be found through the immense knowledge of the 80s. The inventor, being a teenage during the 80s, hide the clues in the period that he most enjoyed.

During the book we see the quest through the eyes of socially awkward nerd who struggles to win and at the same time makes friendships that goes beyond those of his avatar.

I have to say that although I'm a little young to have played all those video games and remember the details of all those moves I still found the book extremely engaging and I could't put it down. I finished it in one day!

Mistborn: The Final Empire - Brandon Sanderson

Oh my.. what can I say.. The story-building, the characters, the plot, the twists, the writing, everything in this book is amazing!

Unchained - J. Lynn, Jennifer L. Armentrout

Those who love Guilt Hunter series will definitely like this!!
